Responsible for: Personal support
Job Purpose: To provide emotional and physical support to individuals and their families. To facilitate independence by working in a dignified and respectful way.
Key Accountabilities
Staff:
Develop strong interpersonal skills and solid relationships.
Maintain administrative systems, confidentially and accurately.
Work effectively both on your own and as part of a larger team.
Develop strong teamwork, effective communication & value diversity.
Support your colleagues by delivering support to service users
Recruitment
Participate in the induction and orientation of staff.
Fostering a safe and secure environment within which staff may develop.
Act as an advocate and buddy for new staff, supporting them to settle into their role.
Business Development:
Attend team meetings and training events.
Make recommendations for changes and improvements
Comply with standards set by SCA and your line manager.
Comply with regular supervision and appraisal arrangements.
Collaborate and incorporate ideas and suggestions made by colleagues.
Ensure your line manager is aware of all relevant service delivery developments.
Care Delivery:
Liaise with others to ensure effective levels of care.
Maintain staff rotas, staff files and service users’ records
Maintain confidential files and prepare reports as required.
Advocate for service users, assisting them to access other resources.
Provide individual care and support to people in their own homes, including:
Personal hygiene, dressing, catheter care, stoma care, peg feeding,
Assistance with meal provision, eating, washing, continence management,
Administering prescribed medication, oral health care and moving and assisting.
Help with forging/maintaining community links.
Organise time and resources reflecting the individual needs of service users.
Promote equality, acknowledge individual differences and uphold peoples’ rights
Administrative:
You will be expected to attend all training as required
Ensure others are not at risk and attend work reliably and punctually.
Your work will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
You will be expected to achieve skills and qualifications appropriate to your role.
Keep up to date with SCA policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation
Other:
Develop and maintain positive working relationships
To be an effective ambassador for SCA in all activities
To undertake any other duties as designated by line management.
To have a registration and qualification with SSSC or other registered body
Personal Specification
Skills
To be able to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to plan and organise your workload effectively.
Communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
Knowledge
An ability to learn new skills and knowledge.
A minimum of SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
To undertake training which supports the needs of the company.
To share and support others to develop their skills and knowledge.
An ability to independently develop your own skills and knowledge.
