Personal Assistant - Full Time


Responsible to: Team Leader

Responsible for: Personal support

 

Job Purpose: To provide emotional and physical support to individuals and their families. To facilitate independence by working in a dignified and respectful way.

 

Key Responsibilities

Supporting service users, including assisting with:

  • Advocacy and being a Key Worker
  • Catheter care, medication administration, moving and assisting
  • Personal hygiene, such as washing, dressing, feeding, continence promotion
  • Social visits, meal preparation and shopping
  • Promotion of equality and people’s rights
  • Reporting incidents, accidents, or complaints


Managing personal workload, including:

  • Logging into and out of every visit
  • Attending and contributing to meetings
  • Updating electronic records such as daily notes
  • Attending all relevant training and development programs
  • Keeping up-to-date with care legislation and SCA policies & procedures

 

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety
  • Good accuracy, adaptability, attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team with initiative
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to communicate in English across different audiences
  • Empathetic and compassionate, with excellence in trustworthy and reliability
  • Previous experience in providing support within a busy environment
  • SVQ2 in Social Services and Healthcare or an equivalent degree in Health or Social Care
  • Edinburgh based


Desirable

  • Be registered with SSSC or another regulatory body
