Support a young man (25 years old) with Autistic Spectrum Disorder living on his own with 24hr support (2 to 1 day time and 1 to 1 at night) in a bungalow (postcode WR5).He has severe communication difficulties but can talk and can understand spoken language well when he is relaxed. He finds it difficult to express himself and this can lead to him becoming anxious and exhibiting distressed behaviour. Part of the role will be to manage his anxiety following the support documents and learning about triggers and causes of anxiety.He is physically able and this role will involve helping him through teaching and guidance to undertake his own self-care and housekeeping whilst at home and to partake in both fun and work-like activities away from home too. He has a Motability vehicle for his use. A drivers licence with the ability to drive a manual car is important.The role will involve providing housekeeping, cooking, shopping and personal care although the objective will always be for this young man to learn to do all tasks himself.His physical and emotional wellbeing will have to be monitored as he is unable to explain any issues himself.Duties- Monitors the young person by observing physical and psychological conditions.
- Provides housekeeping services by cleaning rooms; changing linen and towels, etc.
- Provides personal services by showering, shaving, teeth brushing, applying creams, supporting healthy habits, helping with choices of clothing. Following all the stages of the daily routine (support plans document).
- Records young person’s information by making entries in records; notifying the managers of any changes and/or concerns.
- Maintains a safe, positive and clean environment by following the support documents and instructions.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Enhances service reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
