Purpose of Position |
To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. |
To help in the care of the care users’ physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the home. |
To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the residents under your care, to the appropriate level. |
Principal Responsibilities |
• In accordance with the statement of purpose, stated core values, aims and objectives to support the residents to live an independent and fulfilled life as possible.• Promote physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.• To ensure that the highest possible care standards are always followed and the care is delivered in accordance with the residents care plan.• When weighing residents submit them on person centred software in the time scale set down by the nurse or senior carer.• Advise the Nurse in charge of any significant change in a resident’s health condition.• Assist in the care planning process or review process where required.• Assist residents who require support with all personal hygiene needs. |
• Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.• Make and change beds; tidy rooms.• Serve meals; assist care users at meal times where required; wash up utensils.• Answer call bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors.• To carry out escort duties when required. |
• Submit all interventions on person centred software within 10 minutes of the activity taking place, to ensure the manager has a full understanding of the residents care needs.• Assist residents to mobilise around the home, using the appropriate equipment as outline in the residents care plan.• To build positive and caring relationships with families and residents within the home. Treat everyone with dignity, respect, compassion to help develop an environment where relationships can flourish.• To refer all concerns/complaints to the Nurse in charge or registered manager if available. Not to discuss personal or clinical details unless asked to do so by the Nurse on duty or the Registered manager.• To assist the domestic staff where appropriate. For example, night staff to launder sheets and towels, cleaning wheelchairs, arm chairs, hoists, floors, commodes and tables.• To attend and participate in the staff meetings.• To actively carry out keyworker duties in line with the keyworker policy. |
• Assist in delivering the dementia plan and the operational plan.• To attend all training that is provided to meet the requirements of your job role.• To follow the requirements of the safeguarding of vulnerable adults, children and the whistleblowing policy.• To comply with the companies health and safety procedures.• To comply with the Care Quality Commission fundamental standards.• To read the companies staff handbook with in the first 6 weeks of employment. |
