Job Description: Professional Advisor Mental Health

Reports to: Care Manager

Responsible for: Team of Service Users

As one of Edinburgh’s leading providers of home care, Social Care Alba delivers a wide range of care services which help people to stay in their own homes for longer. We are looking for a Professional Advisor Mental Health to join our exciting, friendly and dynamic team.

 

Your role

Key responsibilities

Supporting the staff team, including assisting with:

        Specialised Learning & Development

        Spot checks and audit of staff practise

        Mentorship & sharing of skills and knowledge

        Compliance with the Care Inspectorate’s legislation and best practise

 

Supporting service users and their families, including assisting with:

        Reviewing care and support service delivery

        Reporting of incidents, accidents, or complaints

        Dealing with medication related issues and audits

        Ensuring high level of hygiene and infection control

        Effectively and efficiently handle emergency on-call issues

        Improving outcomes for those with mental health needs or life shortening conditions

        Liaison with other professionals e.g. Hospitals, G.P, Social Work, District Nurses and EHSCP

        Hospital and home-based assessments as well as designing specialised personal care plans

 

Managing workflow, including:

        Participating in the on-call rota

        Dealing with complaints and incidents

        Updating service user and staff records

        Attending and contributing to meetings

        Completing admin tasks on time, every time

        Improving relationships with CPNs, GP’s and other professionals

        Keeping updated with relevant care legislation and SCA policies & procedures

        Participating in and contributing to the Annual Improvement Plan, and business development

 

This list is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be required to undertake additional duties. We will provide full training in line with regulatory requirements.

 

What we are looking for

Essential

·         Understanding and knowledge of all legislation related to the role and of best practices within health & social care

·         Detail oriented, easily adaptable and an active listener to work under pressure

·         Self-motivated and able to work as part of a dynamic team with initiative

·         Good interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to communicate in excellent English across different audiences

·         Good time management, planning and organising skills

·         Excellent I.T. skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages

·         Excellent understanding of health, wellbeing and infection control

·         Previous experience in a similar position

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Pharmacy

·         Edinburgh based

Desirable

·         Previous experience in the Health and Social Care sector

·         Qualification in a Health or Social Care specialism
