Care Limited is a well-established residential childcare provider based in the
East Coast of Scotland and have been providing residential childcare service
since 2013.
The company is undergoing major restructuring with a view to enhance the
standards and quality of care provision to our Service Users and Local
Authorities across the UK.
The Senior Residential Care Worker will support the Assistant Manager and the
Service Manager in the efficient running of the residential home. You will
largely be responsible for assisting the Assistant Manager in the efficient
operational management of the house as well as providing excellent care to the children
and young people.
The Senior Residential Care Worker will have responsibility to assist in
managing a team of staff, therefore, you must be experienced in motivating and
providing support to colleagues when necessary. The Senior Residential Care Worker
will be assisted by the Assistant Manager in carrying out the set Duties and
Responsibilities. As part of an ongoing professional development you would also
be required to highlight training needs and supervision and have an excellent
understanding of Health and Social Care Standards. The Company wants to improve
efficiency across all operations and you will be expected to contribute in any
efficiency drives of the Organisation, including appropriate levels of staffing
to reflect occupancy in the House.
Upon successful recruitment to the post, you will undergo an intensive
programme of training and induction to allow you to perform your duties
efficiently and effectively.
Essential- Clean Driving License

Minimum of 3 years Experience working in Residential Child Care.

Able to work unsocial hours, including Weekends.

Shift Patterns: Full Days, Sleep-ins & On Calls as requested

HNC Social Services (or equivalent) and SVQ 3 Children and Young People (or
Equivalent)
-
SVQ 4: Children & Young People, Leadership & Management or a
willingness to work towards and completion of SVQ4 within an agreed timescale.

Ambitious and Work towards meeting Set Targets or Goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all children/young people, staff and visitors in the house.
- Undertake Case work under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant Manager
and Service Manager
- Take responsibility for your own and others training needs, particularly in
relation to SSSC registration requirements
- Undertake such other appropriate duties as the Assistant Manager and Service
Manager shall determine
- Adherence to the companies Time and Attendance system
- Ensure accurate records of Sick Leave, Annual Leave and Monthly Time Sheets
- Attend monthly team meetings.

Competitive Remuneration Package: Acting/ Senior Residential Care Worker on a
pay scale: £12.75-£13.75 per hour, Approximately equivalent to £24,735 -
£26,675 + Sleep-ins approx £4,500 pa (Total approx £29,235 - £31,175 pa)
Placement on the Scale depends on Qualifications and Experience.

ROLE, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Main purpose of the role-
To assist the Assistant Manager and Service Manager in achieving the aims and
objectives of the house.

To support the staff team to enable them to meet the needs of the children and
young people.

To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
-
To ensure each shift is planned and resources allocated.
-
To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes
for young people.

To facilitate supervision and support to staff in line with Care inspectorate
Regulations and Quality Standards and as directed by the Assistant Manager and
Service Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure that each
member of staff is aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities
for its implementation.

To work with the House Manager in implementing and developing the aims and
objectives of the Home you are working in.

To provide a lead role in creating a nurturing, homely environment, where young
people are encouraged to develop their full potential.

To enable and encourage young people in developing coping mechanisms to resolve
past experiences and to develop life skills, self-esteem, confidence and
resilience.

To undertake sleep and on-call duties on a rota basis.
-
To identify and assess training needs of staff and to participate in internal /
external training courses as deemed appropriate by Horizons.
-
To participate in staff meetings, senior staff meetings, and any other
appropriate meetings as designated by the Assistant manager or the Service
Manager.

To undertake regular supervision of staff and students within the House, in
conjunction with the Assistant Manager or Service Manager.

To ensure good and effective communication systems.
-
To liaise appropriately with all staff working across Horizons, and external
agencies.

Undertake direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role
model.

Maintain accurate written records relating to young persons in logs,
continuation sheets and files both to record information and enable regular
Quality assurance and evaluation to take place.

Contribute to team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and
staff development.

Ensure staff work within the Home’s policies, procedures and the Care
inspectorate Regulations and Quality Standards requirements

Ensure general daily tasks within the home are completed.

To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the House Manager, or
Senior Management Team.
